Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature.  It will never fail you.

About Full Moon Flower Farm Designs

Artist Statement

My name is Lisa Dawn White and I have always been inspired by nature and its expressions in the landscape.  My mixed media collages are created with flowers, leaves, bark, moss, feathers and other collected organic materials.  By incorporating watercolor, acrylic and pastels, along with hand made papers my pieces offer a contemporary interpretation of an ancient art form.

A whimsical interpretation of nature is one of the most important elements in each of my designs.  I am drawn to collage because it is a medium that doesnt require a defined beginning or end. What at one point in time may appear to be a mistake or accident (and of course there is no such thing) can easily turn into a starting point for an entirely new design.   While most of my inspiration is derived directly from nature, the artistic styles that I find most compelling include

Art Nouveau and Asian Landscape paintings.

I am often asked if I grow all of the flowers that I use in my collages, and while my husband and I grow many of them in our garden (strong emphasis on my husband, who diligently cares for our gardens long after the initial excitement of planting them wanes),  I am an opportunist and gatherer and enjoy expeditions that take me to forests, meadows and roadsides throughout much of the year.  Having been raised amongst avid gardeners and having subsequently surrounded myself with plant people throughout much of my life, I am grateful to my family, friends and neighbors who frequently call to tell me whats in bloom in their lovely gardens.  Without question, I consider the foraging process to be an integral part of my work

(and my 4-legged side kick does too!).

My academic background is in Anthropology and Horticulture, I hold bachelors and masters degrees in these subjects respectively.  Similarly, I have undertaken extensive study in a variety of holistic healing arts and sciences.   My training in art has been informal and happenstance with classes and workshops here and there throughout much of my life.  With this in mind, endeavoring in the creative process has always been a fundamentally imperative part of my livelihood.
